The Junction, Cambridge

Cambridge: I know what you might be thinking…stiff-suited professors who rarely see the light of day…students everywhere…overpriced accommodation. And while all of these stereotypes couldn’t be more true – sorry! – there is another side of Cambridge which couldn’t be more different. And we’re talking really different…

The Junction, know as one of the most diverse entertainment venues in the UK, has been around for a while and it just keeps getting better. Recent years have seen the place refurbished, with bigger and better acts doing some great live shows. And don’t think for a second that this venue hasn’t seen the likes of the biggest stars. I vividly remember seeing Amy Winehouse up on stage, way back, well before she became the huge drinking / singing force she is today, and singer-songwriters like Jamie Cullum have also been no stranger.

Every year this place kicks out 100s of sessions to at least a hundred thousand expectant customers. And it really is diverse. We’re not just talking singing and stand-up, we’re talking dance – all kinds, from classic to contemporary and street – and every kind of live music imaginable, as well as theatre and events which have been inspiring young people for a decade.

In other words, it’s worth visiting!

We didn’t even talk about the space yet: this is where The Junction really comes into its own.

With 3 large spaces on offer, various acts can find the perfect place to perform. Either in the large room to a decent crowd, or in a smaller room to a more intimate group of hardcore fans. Whatever the occasion, this venue is sure to be able to accommodate it, so why not drop by there and see where many big names started out? (Just don’t make the mistake of wearing a rubbish T-shirt with laser hair removal bournemouth on it, OK? My friend did and they wouldn’t let him in. I can’t blame them. The T-shirt was abysmal…)
